BOOGER

The winding road quietly called my name.

You sweetly asked to join my sunset stroll, blue eyes smiling.

Together we made our way through the aspens, alongside the fences and the herd of horses.

Gently our footfalls crunched in unison on the gravel.

The clouds began showing off their soft shades of pink, purple and orange.

I felt happy, content and alive. Hugged by the the mountains.

The world fell away on those nightly walks with you.

Immersed in conversation, a lightness igniting in my heart.

I remember feeling joyful, present, grounded and exuberant.

There was a familiar comfort in the sweet smell of a horses nose.

And in the way you held my hand.

We laid in the long grass watching the clouds.

Horses grazing and crickets strumming, our music.

A fragile grass ring still resides in the keepsake box on my nightstand, 15 years later.

I am so lucky to love you.
