HURRY UP!

Updated: Feb 11, 2020

Hurrying. Rushing. Running late. On a hike in the woods, my wise friend said rushing kills joy. BAM.

MY EXPERIENCE

In the past, the first thing I used to think about when I woke up is that I didn't have enough time to get everything done that day. How was that even possible when my day started at 5:00am? I carried this underlying sense of urgency and slight overwhelm most of the time. There was impending sense of doom if I slowed down. Like everything needed to go faster and that there just simply wasn't enough time.

Have you felt like this before? What the heck is this feeling? Welcome to a Vata imbalance.

In Ayurveda, Vata is one of the 3 doshas, or energetic categories. It is the one most likely to go out of balance and is responsible for the majority of health issues.

Here are some common Vata imbalance symptoms:

  • Anxiety

  • Runaway thoughts/overthinking/feeling overwhelmed easily

  • Popping joints

  • Food sensitivities

  • Bloating/gas after meals

  • Frequent constipation

  • Difficulty falling asleep

Do you struggle with these issues?

Does accomplishing everything faster actually reduce your anxiety, or is it ever-present but maybe you're just too exhausted to care?

MY NEW MANTRA:

SLOTHS ARE MY SPIRIT ANIMAL

Most of my adult life I have been hurrying. Rushing to accomplish as much as possible in the shortest amount of time. Perpetual over-exertion followed by extreme exhaustion, with a side of caffeine overload. Not so fun, and definitely unsustainable. We cannot operate at maximum speed without eventually burning out. I would like to help you before you reach this point or if you are there, help you climb back out.

  • What feelings arise for you when you think about slowing down?

  • What does it mean to truly enjoy your life?

  • Do you let yourself rest?

It's wonderful to rest and even better if you don't have to feel guilty about it. Balancing your constitution naturally corrects this feeling. Fun side note: You'll actually be more productive once your body and mind are back in balance. It might seem counterintuitive, but by slowing down and tuning in, you'll become more streamlined and efficient. And it doesn't leave you feeling depleted or exhausted.

Would you like to work on naturally reducing anxiety, feeling grounded and more comfortable in your body? We can explore the reasons you have felt the go-go-go and come up with a plan together. By the way, sloths are my new favorite. Oh, their happy little faces slowly enjoying themselves up there in the trees!
