Love Wins

Yesterday my son came home from school asking me if WWIII had started. Everyone was talking about it at school and he was afraid. The delicate line of truth and protection danced in my mind and I told him a little about what I knew had taken place overseas while placing extra emphasis on how safe we are here in Montana.

The ongoings of the ferocious world are overwhelming for all of us, especially my son and daughter. I am raising two little humanitarians with hearts as wide as the sky and I often struggle to answer their big questions. I struggle to answer my own big questions, too.

What I fall back on is looking for what is real. What is good. What beauty can you see from right where you're sitting? Let's go for a drive and look at our lovely surroundings. Let's play some old family videos and remember funny things. Let's tell each other stories about all of the beautiful possibilities the future holds. Let's write down our prayers and our dreams.

Let's hold the frequency for what is possible.

This morning I went for a drive. Just me, my dog and the sunrise. I had woken up happy and sang Peaceful, Easy Feeling to my kids as I got their lunches ready. When it played on the radio on my way home, I knew it was meant just for me.

I decided to take the long way back and put the car in 4wd as I turned off the main highway. I drove slowly as the white road curved gently through the farmers fields and ranchers pastures. There were deer and frosty faced cattle. A sprinkling of fresh black calves huddled up close to their mamas. I even saw a set of twins. My car read -13 and my fingers agreed it was frigid as I quickly captured a few photos along the way.

Song after song not-so-randomly hummed just the playlist I needed to hear. The sun beamed in and the dog fell asleep and I breathed deeply in what was real right in front of me.

As I slowed down near one of the river crossings to watch as the steam rose off of the water, a golden eagle soared right over me. I could hear the wind in its wings. I didn't even try to take a picture. It was a perfect moment.

Look for the beauty everywhere. Love everything.

LOVE WINS.
